How Much is a Billion?

This is an old one but still an eye opener!

How many zeros in a  billion?

This  is too true to be funny.

The  next time you hear a politician use the word ‘billion’ in a casual manner, think about whether you want the ‘politicians’ spending YOUR tax money.

A  billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but one advertising agency did  a good job of putting that figure into some perspective in one of it’s releases.

• A  billion seconds ago it was 1959.
• A  billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.
• A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Age.
• A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two  feet.
• A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes, at the rate our government is spending it.

While this thought is still fresh in our brain, let’s take a look at New  Orleans. It’s amazing what you can learn with some simple division.

Louisiana Senator, Mary Landrieu (D) was asking Congress for 250 BILLION DOLLARS to rebuild New Orleans after Katrina hit. Interesting number, what does it mean?

• Well…if you were one of the 484,674 residents of New Orleans (every man, woman, and child) you should have gotten $516,528.
• Or…if you had one of the 188,251 homes in New Orleans , your home should have gotten $1,329,787.
• Or…if you were a family of four, your family should have gotten $2,066,012.

The Last Day

1 Thessalonians 4:16

Have you ever giving thought to that LAST DAY? This is kind of sobering if you think about it!

Ten things God WON’T ask you on that day!

1. God won’t ask what kind of car you drove. He’ll ask you how many people you drove that didn’t have transportation.
2. God won’t ask the square footage of your house. He’ll ask you how many people you welcomed into your home.
3. God won’t ask about the clothes you had in your closet. He’ll ask you how many you helped to clothe.
4. God won’t ask what your highest salary was. He’ll ask you if you compromised your character to obtain it.
5. God won’t ask what your job title was. He’ll ask you if you preformed your job to the best of your ability.
6. God won’t ask how many friends you had. He’ll ask you how many to whom you were a friend.
7. God won’t ask what neighborhood you lived in. He’ll ask how you treated your neighbors.
8. God won’t ask about the color of your skin. he’ll ask about the content of your character.
9. God won’t ask why it took you so long to seek salvation. He’ll lovingly take you to your mansion in Heaven and not to the gates of hell!

Friends are like stars, You don’t always see them but you know they are there! Keep them close!

Something to Think About

There was a blind girl who hated herself because she was blind. She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her. She told her boyfriend, ‘If I could only see the world, I will marry you.’

One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her. When the bandages came off, she was able to see everything, including her boyfriend.
