NASCAR ATHLETES AND THE CHARITIES THEY SUPPORT

Posted by texasdirt on November 14, 2008

The Real Kyle Busch and His Quest to Help Children Across the Country

As the season calms down and the major figures of NASCAR return to their ‘off-season’ activities, which in many cases means charity work. Many of the biggest fans in NASCAR lend time, money and resources to their own foundations or the charities closest to their heart. NASCAR heavyweight, Kyle Busch is no exception.  When he’s not competing with NASCAR’s elite, Kyle Busch is focused on improving the lives of neglected, abandoned, abused or orphaned children across the country. After an emotional visit to a children’s home in 2006, Busch vowed to help provide living and learning environments where less fortunate children can pursue their dreams, and thus came The Kyle Busch Foundation.

The Kyle Busch Foundation concentrates its efforts on assisting organizations in fostering a safe environment for children to live, learn and challenge themselves as well as providing assistance for day-to-day needs. The foundation supports a number of charities including St. Johns Home (Grand Rapids, MI), Carolina’s Children Center (Concord, NC), Girls and Boys Town of Nevada (Las Vegas, NV) and Carrie Steele-Pitts Home (Atlanta, GA) and many more.

This holiday season many NASCAR families can help their favorite drivers and many more by giving to these charities. Find your favorite athlete and their charity below.

Obama Wins – Good or Bad?

Posted by texasdirt on November 6, 2008

OK there is a lot of controversey over this presidential election. Over this “Historical” presidential election.

Is Obama the right choice? Well according to the people he is. Weather that is good or bad is left to be determined.

I came across an article on another forum that I thought just sums up the whole thing. I aksed permission to repost their article here.

Originally written by Lizzie Day on the Deviantart web site lovely-demented.deviantart.com

****Original Post****

The election of Senator Barack Obama to the office of President of the United States of America has rightfully been hailed as history in the making. I couldn’t agree more, but that’s not what I want to talk about tonight. I want to remind my countrymen, countrywomen, countrydogs, countrycats, etc. of something I believe is being forgotten in the wake of last night’s election: unity. Ironic, right? Everyone speaks of the unification Obama brings to the government due to his ethnicity, and then those same people condemn, ridicule, and dismiss John McCain like he’s a plague upon the Earth. How are we unified when people are still split into Blue vs. Red, Republican vs. Democrat, Liberal vs. Conservative? Did anyone even listen to Obama’s speeches in which he calls us Americans, not Blue States and Red States? Did you hear him last night when he said repeatedly, “Yes, we can”? Notice the “we” part? He didn’t say, “Yes, we Blue States can.” We are one country split into fifty unified states. We are a team separated into offense and defense, or infield and outfield, but we are still one team (I hate sports metaphors, but they’re uncannily appropriate in so many situations). In this country, it is our right, our privilege to have differing beliefs, but once we choose our leadership we need to quit bickering and put our support behind the governing administration because if he or she fails, we all fail. You know the words: United We Stand, Divided We Fall. Remember those words, America, because they will never be untrue.

I will tell you all right now I voted for Barack Obama. I have voted Democrat in every local, state, and federal election since I was eligible to vote in 1995 (with the exception of an unopposed municipal judge election in 2004 that I wrote in Bob Vila rather than vote Republican. I know, not very unified of me, but I’ve matured since then). I tell you this because what I want to say next may cause some people to believe I voted differently and I want you to be certain that how I voted has no bearing on the validity of the following message. The point I want to make in this paragraph is about John McCain. He is a patriot, an ex-soldier, an elder statesman, and a good man. No, I don’t know him personally, but I did see his concession speech last night, which I consider to be one of the most gracious concessions in recorded history. When McCain’s crowd of supporters began booing Obama’s name as he spoke it, John McCain didn’t laugh or smile, he gave his people a stern look of disapproval and motioned for them to stop. He could easily have booed along with them like I’ve seen other politicians do over the years, but he didn’t. He showed respect, support, and loyalty toward his newly elected President. A coward mocks his political opponent, but a patriot accepts and supports him; this is John McCain. Today, I have heard people call McCain evil, stupid, or un-American simply because he lost an election or for having a different strategy for healing our country. Do not believe that because he had an alternate idea of how to run our country, he is wrong; there is always more than one way to do something. Less appealing, perhaps, but not wrong.

I’d like to say a little bit about beliefs. We all believe in something. Most tend to protect their beliefs with extreme vigilance. In nearly all cases, we fight for our beliefs to the point of becoming oppressive to people who are in direct opposition with those beliefs. We have this idea, like in Highlander, that there can be only one. But, this is America! We can all believe in whatever we want! It’s a land which allows its citizens to have differing beliefs. It’s a land founded by people who had differing beliefs from their mother countries. America is the Melting Pot of the world and not only because of the varying origins of its citizens, but also because of the mixture of so many different beliefs. Are we all so arrogant to think that our individual beliefs are the only ones with validity? I have the honor of being from a family that is of two opposite sides of the coin. My father’s side are Conservative Republican Christians, my mother’s side are Liberal Democratic Agnostics. I grew up with differing beliefs and I know what it feels like to be pulled in two directions by people I love, which is probably the exact reason I fight so passionately for unity.

I remind you, please do not see in terms of Blue State or Red State, black or white, Liberal or Conservative, male or female, gay or straight, old or young, rich or poor, rock or country, digital or traditional, married or single, Atheist or faithful, North or South, caffeinated or decaf, abridged or unabridged, VHS or DVD, tall or short, obese or skinny, Blu-Ray or HD, Linux or Windows or Mac, pro-choice or pro-life, blonde or brunette, Star Wars or Star Trek. You have choice because you have freedom. Protect them.

Some things to remember as our country fights to fulfill its’ promises:

  • Stand together
  • Use your voice, but use it wisely and responsibly
  • Understand your opponent and make him/her your ally
  • Take the initiative to change your surroundings for the benefit of all
  • Open your mind and your heart will follow
  • Respect all beliefs because you aren’t the only person who has them.

These quakes appeared to be centered 3 miles deep in the earth. Aftershocks are expected to be felt for several days according to the US Geological Survey.

As of this post no signifacant damage was reported.

From what I have gathered the earthquake was caused by a shift in the Barnett Shale, a natural gas deposit found in the 1950’s

You Don’t Need to be a Believer to be Saved???

Posted by texasdirt on October 4, 2008

I found a couple of audio clips of Sen. Obama stating that you don’t need to be a believer to be saved and go to heaven.

He believes Jews and Muslims who live moral lives are just as much “children of God” as those who are true believers. Obama – Not everyone needs to be Christian to be saved

Although his mother was not a Christian or even a believer “…she is in heaven…” Obama – I’m sure she is in heaven

Do we really want someone with these beliefs? “Beware of false Phrophets”…..where did I hear that?…..OH YEAH! THE BIBLE!!!!! Matthew 7:15

Matter Of Opinion (Researched)

Posted by texasdirt on October 4, 2008

Ok in my haste for news and post to fill a blog with, I seem to have fallen victim to another great hoax.

on 9/24/08 I posted a an article titled “Matter of Opinion” it mentions the theory of Sen. Obama being the Anti-Christ.

According to The Book of Revelations:
The Anti-Christ will be a man, in his 40s, of MUSLIM descent, who will deceive the nations with persuasive language, and have a MASSIVE Christ-like appeal….the prophecy says that people will flock to him and he will promise false hope and world peace, and when he is in power, he will destroy everything.

And Now:

For the award winning Act of Stupidity Of all times the People of America want to elect, to the most Powerful position on the face of the Planet — The Presidency of the United states of America … A Male of Muslim descent who is the most extremely liberal Senator in Congress (in other words an extremist) and in his 40s.
Have the American People completely lost their Minds, or just their Power of Reason ???
I’m sorry but I refuse to take a chance on the ‘unknown’ candidate Obama…

OK, first of all I am a supporter of McCain/Palin but I am going to apologize to Sen. Obama for furthering the rumor of the “Anti-Christ”. I did a little digging, first in The Book (The Bible) and then around the web. Here is what I found:

In the book of Revelation (not Revelations as some call it) chapter 13 mentions a Beast which apparently is the equivalent to the Anti-Christ, or at least as close as you will get in Revelation. It mentions a beast with seven heads and ten horns. It does not mention 40 years of age or of Muslim decent.

1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.
7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
9 If any man have an ear, let him hear.
10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

The verses I could find where the term Antichrist is used (in the King James Version) are

I John 2

18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

I John 4

3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

II John 1

7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

Again, nothing about Muslim or being in the 40’s.

OK, from the internet I was able to find out that the book of Revelation was written or at least finished in the end of the second century. The Muslim religion began in Arabia with the Muhammad’s first recitations of the Qur’an in the 7th century (From Wikipedia) so it seems very unlikely that Revelation would have mentioned Muslim.

BUT!! the verse I feel (a Matter of Opinion) best describes Sen. Obama would be from the Book of Matthew

Matthew 7

15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

Careful What You Wish For

Posted by texasdirt on September 24, 2008

Be careful of what you wish for. The Philippines is a good example.

PAYBACK
Adios, Amigos

Do you remember when Puerto Rico was raising hell about the U. S. Navy using that nothing little island just off the coast of Puerto Rico for bombing practices, which they had used for the past 75 years?

Demonstrations were held; Hollywood left wingers, Al Sharpton and his fellow demagogues went down there to demonstrate to get the Navy out..

I am sure it infuriated you just as it did me at the time. Well, here is our revenge. Always be careful what you ask for, you just may get it!

One of the many headaches that the U. S. Has had was the Puerto Rican island of Vieques in the waning years of the Clinton Administration; protesters demanded that the U. S. Navy abandon bombing and naval gunfire exercises that had taken place on the largely uninhabited island for nearly 70 years.

In 2002, the bombing exercises were transferred to an Air Force bombing range in central Florida not far from Jacksonville and Pensacola Naval Air Stations. In January, many of the protesters were back in Puerto Rico, celebrating the final bombing exercise on Vieques and waved Puerto Rican flags and placards that read “U. S. Navy, get out of Puerto Rico.”

The following February, Rumsfeld announced that the US. Navy would close the Roosevelt Roads Naval Air Station in Puerto Rico in 2004, eliminating 1,200 civilian jobs as well as 700 military positions. This naval facility is estimated to have put nearly $300 million annually into the local economy.

The next day, a stunned Governor Sila Calderon held a news conference in San Juan protesting the base closure as a serious blow to the Commonwealth’s fragile economy. The governor stated that “the people of Puerto Rico don’t now or never did have an interest in closing the Vieques bombing range or the Roosevelt Roads naval base. We are interested in both staying in Puerto
Rico “

When asked, the Commander-in-Chief, Western Atlantic Command, said, “Without Vieques, I see no further need for the facility at Roosevelt Roads. None.”

So, Yankee go home? Fine. But we’ll take our dollars with us. Hasta la Vista, baby!

On February 21, the Secretary of Defense also announced that starting this year, the U.S. European Command would begin moving most, if not all, 20 of its active combat and support units from bases in Germany to others being established in Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Turkey to “better position them for rapid deployment to likely hot spots in those parts of the
World.”

Immediately the business and government leaders in the German states of Hesse, Rhineland and Wurttemburg protested the loss ofnearly $6 billion in US revenue each year from the bases and manpower to be displaced. A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry speculated that the move may be “what the Americans call ‘payback’ for the actions of this government in opposing military action in Iraq.”

“Does anyone know the German translation for: “Hasta la vista, Baby?” I Think “Aufwiedersehen” is a good translation.

Oh, isn’t it nice to see a government with guts and a good memory???

Also, here are some statistics and conclusions about a different subject.

If you consider that there has been an average of 160,000 troops in the Iraq Theater of operations during the last 22 months, and a total of 2,112 deaths, when this was written, that gives a firearm death rate of 60 per 100,000 soldiers.

The firearm death rate in Washington D. C. Is 80.6 per 100,000 for the same period. (…and that was while handguns were outlawed!!)

That means that you are about 25% more likely to be shot and killed in the US Capitol, which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation than you are in Iraq.

PASS THIS ON ‘cuz you can be sure that CNN, NBC, ABC and CBS won’t!

Conclusion: Just maybe the U.S. Should pull out of Washington , D.C. !!!!

Matter of Opinion

Posted by texasdirt on September 24, 2008

This post came to me Via an eMail and I wanted to share it with more people!

This is a matter of opinion and everybody has one.

If after reading this you disagree, please, no need to leave a comment. Your opinion is yours and that’s fine.

*******************************
A lot of Americans have become so insulated from reality that they imagine that   America can suf fer defeat without any inconvenience to themselves.

Pause a moment, reflect back.

These events are actual events from history..
They really happened!!!
Do you remember?

  • 1968 Bobby Kennedy was shot and killed by a Muslim male extremist.
  • In 1972 at the Munich Olympics, athletes were kidnapped and massacred by Muslim male extremists.
  • In 1979, the   US embassy in Iran was taken over by Muslim male extremists.
  • During the 1980’s a number of Americans were kidnapped in Lebanon by Muslim male extremists.
  • In 1983, the US Marine barracks in  Beirut was blown up by Muslim male extremists.
  • In 1985 the cruise ship Achille Lauro was hijacked and a 70 year old American passenger was murdered and thrown overboard in his wheelchair by Muslim male extremists.
  • In 1985 TWA flight 847 was hijacked at  Athens , and a US Navy diver trying to rescue passengers was murdered by Muslim male extremists.
  • In 1988 , Pan Am Flight 103 was bombed by Muslim male extremists.
  • In 1993 the World Trade Center was bombed the first time by Muslim male extremists.
  • In 1998, the   US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania were bombed by Muslim male extremists.
  • On 9/11/01, four airliners were hijacked; two were used as missiles to take down the World Trade Centers and of the remaining two, one crashed into the US Pentagon and the other was diverted and crashed by the passengers. Thousands of people were killed by Muslim male extremists.
  • In 2002 the   United States fought a war in Afghanistan against Muslim male extremists.
  • In 2002 reporter Daniel Pearl was kidnapped and murdered by– you guessed it– Muslim male extremists.

No, I really don’t see a pattern here to justify profiling, do you? So, to ensure we Americans never offend anyone, particularly fanatics intent on killing us, airport security screeners will no longer be allowed to profile certain people… Absolutely No Profiling!

They must conduct random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, secret agents who are members of the President’s security detail, 85-year old Congressmen with metal hips, and Medal of Honor winner and former Governor Joe Foss,  but leave Muslim Males alone lest they be guilty of profiling.

Let’s send this story to as many people as we can so that the Gloria Aldreds and other stupid attorneys along with Federal Justices that want to thwart common sense, feel ashamed of themselves — if they have any such sense.

As the writer of the award winning story ‘Forrest Gump’, Winston Groom,so aptly put it,
‘Stupid Is As Stupid Does’

Don’t take my words for it. Here is an exert from ‘The Audacity Of Hope’ by Barack Hussein Obama, “I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”

*******************************

Each opportunity that you have to send this to a friend or media outlet…do it!  Or again…  Just ignore it if you disagree.

Obama ‘Explains’

Posted by texasdirt on September 24, 2008

On Sat, 22 Mar 2008, ‘LTG Bill Ginn’ USAF ret. Forwarded the following:

Hot on the heels of his explanation for why he no longer wears a flag pin,  Presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama was forced to explain why he doesn’t follow protocol when the National Anthem is played.

According to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171, “During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart.

“As I’ve said about the flag pin, I don’t want to be perceived as taking sides,” Obama said. “There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song ‘I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing.’ If that were our anthem, then I might salute it.”

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this could possibly be our next president!!

I, for once, am speechless.  He has absolutely NO pride in this country!!!!!
This is outrageous!!!!  He doesn’t deserve to be dogcatcher!!!
(Oh, sorry dogcatchers, I mean you no disrespect.)

LET’S SEND THIS CLOWN DOWN THE ROAD KICKING ROCKS!!!! Or better yet, over to a country that he can ‘be proud of’!

******UPDATE******

OK I have never been one to be closed minded. So, shortly after posting this I had a comment saying it was not Obama’s stance on the subject. I looked it up…..which i should have done first I guess!

On Snopes.Com they explain this was an eMail circling around the internet for a while. It is actually part Satire and partially taken out of context.
